Yahoo Says 1 Billion Other Accounts May Have Been Hacked
(Bloomberg) -- Yahoo says it believes an unauthorized third party stole data associated with more than 1b user accounts in August 2013.
- Thinks incident is different from hack announced Sept. 22, in which it said at least 500m accounts were stolen
- Stolen data may have included names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords, security questions and answers; investigation indicates stolen information didn’t include passwords in clear text, payment card data, bank account information
- Co. notifying potentially affected users, requiring users to change passwords; encourages users to review all online accounts for suspicious activity
- Shares down 1.9% in post-market trading
