Mexico Ex-Governor Had State Security While Fugitive: WSJ
(Bloomberg) -- Former governor of the northern state of Tamaulipas Tomas Yarrington was assigned 8 state policemen as bodyguards while on run last year from drug trafficking and money-laundering charges, WSJ reports, citing assignment orders issued by state investigative police.
- Yarrington had use of bodyguards since leaving office in 2005, Porfirio Castillo, former head of investigative police, told WSJ
- NOTE: Yarrington was arrested Sunday by Italian police on request of Mexican attorney general’s office
