(Bloomberg) -- Volkswagen AG Supervisory Board Chairman Hans Dieter Poetsch was informed of cheating software at the core of the carmaker’s diesel scandal on Sept. 8, 2015, Bild am Sonntag newspaper reports.
Alert: HALISTER- Then-CFO Poetsch was informed by former CEO Martin Winterkorn at a meeting in which Winterkorn briefed managers about VW’s admission to U.S. authorities that it had used a so-called defeat device, Bild reports, without saying where it obtained the information
- VW issued an ad-hoc release two weeks later
- VW refers to its March 2 statement defending its disclosure of the diesel affair in an e-mailed statement responding to the Bild report
- “Volkswagen is convinced that it completely fulfilled its capital-markets requirements,” the company says in the statement. “Volkswagen generally doesn’t comment on the contents of management-board meetings.”
