VW’s Poetsch Was Informed of Diesel Affair Sept. 8, 2015: Bild

(Bloomberg) -- Volkswagen AG Supervisory Board Chairman Hans Dieter Poetsch was informed of cheating software at the core of the carmaker’s diesel scandal on Sept. 8, 2015, Bild am Sonntag newspaper reports.
  • Then-CFO Poetsch was informed by former CEO Martin Winterkorn at a meeting in which Winterkorn briefed managers about VW’s admission to U.S. authorities that it had used a so-called defeat device, Bild reports, without saying where it obtained the information
  • VW issued an ad-hoc release two weeks later
  • VW refers to its March 2 statement defending its disclosure of the diesel affair in an e-mailed statement responding to the Bild report
  • “Volkswagen is convinced that it completely fulfilled its capital-markets requirements,” the company says in the statement. “Volkswagen generally doesn’t comment on the contents of management-board meetings.”
