Credit Suisse Now Sees Next Fed Hike in May 2017, Not This Dec.

(Bloomberg) -- “We now expect the next Fed hike in May 2017 (versus December 2016) and only two hikes in 2017” given Fed’s high sensitivity to volatility and short-term data momentum, Credit Suisse Chief Economist James Sweeney, others wrote in note Thurs.
  • In minutes of FOMC’s June 14-15 mtg being released next wk, “still worth examining” Fed’s “ex-ante view on Brexit risks,” as well as slowdown in jobs growth, moves lower in inflation expectations
  • Credit Suisse cuts 2H real U.S. GDP growth forecast to 1.9% from 2.4% following Brexit vote, revises 2Q GDP forecast to 3.1% from 2.7% due to stronger-than-expected consumption data
