Japan 5-Yr Bond Sale Draws Weak Demand on Low Yield: PineBridge

(Bloomberg) -- Outcome of today’s sale of 5-year JGBs was “weak,” probably due to pre-auction buying that pushed yields down to “excessively low” levels, says Tadashi Matsukawa, head of fixed-income investment at PineBridge, in an interview.
  • 5-year yield seems to have stabilized in a range of -0.15% to -0.10%, compared with BOJ’s policy rate of -0.10%: Tokyo- based Matsukawa; says, hence, investors are likely to shift their funds into bonds that offer positive yields; NOTE: Click here for auction results
  • Yield on 5-year JGBs now down 1 bp to -0.135% in secondary market
