Nigeria Charges Shell, Eni With Corruption Over Asset Purchase

(Bloomberg) -- Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission charges Shell and Eni with making a corrupt payment of $801m in 2011 connected to the purchase of oil prospecting license 245, according to documents filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
  • Eni did nothing wrong in respect of the acquisition of the oil field in 2011 and hasn’t been notified of any new charges, company said in emailed statement
  • Shell didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment
