TAIWAN PREVIEW: Export Orders’ Drop Seen Accelerating in March

(Bloomberg) -- Taiwan’s export orders probably declined for the 12th consecutive month, according to all 15 economists surveyed by Bloomberg.
  • Orders likely fell 8.0% y/y following 7.4% contraction in Feb., median est. in survey shows; ests range from -11.3% to -2.9%; data due 4pm local time on Wed.
  • Recovery in technology hardware continues, but likely to be masked by weakness in other products, which will drag on export orders slightly in March, Societe Generale economist Claire Huang said in interview Monday
  • Export orders fell less than expected in Feb., data released on March 21 showed; USD/TWD 1-mo. NDF rose 0.1% to close at 32.309 that day
    • NDF is down 0.4% today to 32.195
