FOMC on Course to Announce Balance Sheet Run-Off in Sept: CIBC

(Bloomberg) -- Majority on FOMC are “still leaning toward a business-as-usual approach” despite discussion at July meeting about the chances of undershooting 2% inflation target for longer, CIBC economist Royce Mendes said in note.
  • FOMC members appear “comfortable moving forward with further tightening”
  • “Barring some unforeseen events, we expect the balance sheet run-off to be formally announced next month”
  • Few months of “healthy” price increases in 2H will keep December rate hike alive

(Bloomberg) -- “Racism and murder are unequivocally reprehensible and are not morally equivalent to anything else that happened in Charlottesville. I believe the president should have been – and still needs to be – unambiguous on that point,” Campbell CEO Denise Morrison says in statement.
