Trump Assails Amazon on Twitter Over Paying Internet Taxes
(Bloomberg) -- President Trump tweets attacks toward the Washington Post for being a "guardian of Amazon" and protecting the company from paying Internet taxes.
- Trump: "The #AmazonWashingtonPost, sometimes referred to as the guardian of Amazon not paying internet taxes (which they should) is FAKE NEWS!"
- NOTE: Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos purchased Washington Post in August 2013 for $250m; the company is separate from Amazon, in which Bezos owns 16.72% of shares, according to the latest Bloomberg data
- Trump previously tweeted accusations at Bezos for using the Washington Post "for purposes of keeping taxes down at his no profit company" Amazon
- "The @washingtonpost loses money (a deduction) and gives owner @JeffBezos power to screw public on low taxation of @Amazon! Big tax shelter"
