forecasts for today’s U.S. economic releases as compiled by Bloomberg News:
- Nonfarm Payrolls 180k; range 140k to 238k (87 estimates)
- Private Payrolls 175k; range 150k to 240k (40 estimates)
- Manu Payrolls 5k; range -5k to 15k (21 estimates)
- Unemploy Rate 4.7%; range 4.6% to 4.8% (80 estimates)
- Hourly Earn 0.3% m/m; range 0.2% to 0.5% (64 estimates)
- Hourly Earn 2.7% y/y; range 2.6% to 3% (29 estimates)
- Avg. Weekly Hours 34.3; range 34.3 to 34.4 (34 estimates)
- "Little reason to expect a significant change in the pace of hiring imminently, although if growth firms later this year, it could necessitate a moderate hiring pickup": Bloomberg Intelligence
- Businesses could hold back on hiring until they have more clarity on corporate tax reform, though, "at the very least, the number of temp workers may grow at the expense of permanent hires": Kevin Cummins and Michelle Girard, economists at NatWest Markets
- Report will incorporate official benchmark revisions into data; preliminary March 2016 revision released on Sept. 7 was -150k, smaller in absolute terms than average: Stone & McCarthy
