(Bloomberg) -- Paris judge Fabienne Siredey-Garnier says court will decide 9 March on whether to delay hearing in UBS France’s defamation case against whistle-blower Stephanie Gibaud.
Alert: HALISTER1- Gibaud’s lawyer said earlier that delay is necessary to allow conclusions of parallel criminal investigation where UBS AG has been accused by French prosecutors of laundering tax-fraud proceeds and conspiring to illicitly solicit clients on French territory helped clients evade taxes and where UBS France has been accused of helping clients evade taxes
- Gibaud was on trial Thursday for publishing in February 2014 an allegedly defamatory book that stated UBS France helped French fiscal residents to dodge taxes and destroyed evidence
- NOTE: Gibaud organized client events for wealthy clients at UBS France before getting fired in 2012
